Beatlemania consumed Seattle when the Fab Four played its first concert in 1964.
The Edgewater Hotel, apparently the only Seattle hotel to accept them as guests, will celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Beatles’ stay at the hotel and the Fab Four’s first Seattle concert with a series of events Aug. 21.
Festivities begin at 9 p.m. and include a Fabulous Four-course dinner at Six Seven restaurant, a Beatles lookalike contest (the winner gets a night in The Beatles Suite) and live music by Creme Tangerine, a Beatles tribute band. There are also Beatles-themed cocktails, such as The Nowhere Man-hattan, Yellow Sub-Martini and Magical Mystery Mojito.
The hotel is also offering a contest for the best Beatles memory. Fans can submit memories to The Edgewater Hotel’s Facebook page or email entries to BeatlesMemories@Edgewaterhotel.com. The winner will be selected by a panel of judges on Aug. 31.
During their stay at the hotel, the Beatles fished from their window, depicted in a famous photo. The room is now The Beatles Suite, available to any guest who wants to pay the big bucks to reserve it. Decorations include period photos of the Beatles.
