The musical and cultural smorgasbord we call Bumbershoot is about to begin. Three big days of music, arts, comedy and performance art Sept. 1-3 at Seattle Center.

In a single weekend, you can experience a year’s worth of musical performances. The 2012 lineup includes Jane’s Addiction, Heartless Bastards, Sera Cahoone, Tony Bennett, Wanda Jackson and the Dusty 45s, Big Sean, Mac Miller, Rebirth Jazz Band, Skrillex, among many others. It goes on and on.

Skrillex, performing at 9:30 p.m. Monday at KeyArena, represents one of the hottest trends in music – EDM, or electronic dance music. Born Sonny John Moore in 1988, the California DJ creates a dizzying blend of beats and bass-heavy sounds.

At the 54th Grammy Awards in February, Skrillex won three trophies – for best dance/electronic album, best dance recording and best remixed recording, non-classical. In 2011, he was named MTV’s electronic dance music artist of the year.

Curious? Or already a fan? Get your tickets now at the Bumbershoot website, where you’ll find the daily lineups as well as ticket prices and other invaluable information.
