Saffire — the Uppity Blues Women are calling it quits as a recording group following the release of their final album, “Havin’ the Last Word.”
Songs include the lighthearted “Kitchen Man,” the raucous “Bald Headed Blues” and the lovely “Blue Ballad.”
The group’s farewell tour includes an all-ages show Saturday, June 6, at the Triple Door. Opening at 7:30 p.m. is David Jacobs-Strain. Tickets: $22. Reservations: 206-838-4333.
The all-woman acoustic-blues trio known for its powerful versions of classic blues tunes, as well as feisty originals, includes singer-instrumentalists Ann Rabson, Gaye Adegbalola and Andra Faye. After forming more than two decades ago, the group attracted national media attention due in part to the novelty of three middle-aged women leaving homes and careers to pursue a passion for blues. Here’s a live performance clip of the group.
Saffire’s final tour coincides with a new documentary film on the group’s 25-year history, “Hot Flash,” to be shown at film festivals. It’s also available through iTunes.
