What began in 2008 as a communal neo-hippie party has grown into an impressive annual music event on Orcas Island.

The Doe Bay Fest Aug. 13-14 at Doe Bay Resort and Retreat on the southeastern corner of Orcas has announced a first-rate lineup for 2010: Fruit Bats, Grand Hallway, THEESatisfaction, Portland Cello Project, Drew Grow & the Pastors’ Wives, Shenandoah Davis and Hey Marseilles. More bands will be announced later, but that’s a pretty good start, no?

The third annual festival will again be held at the forested site overlooking Puget Sound and nearby islands. Visit the festival Web site for updates this spring and summer by following this link.

The neo-hippie festival made its debut in 2008 with performances by the Maldives, 17th Chapter, Tim Seely, Friday Mile, Indian Valley Line (San Francisco); and Sandman the Rappin’ Cowboy.
