Though he has a new album to promote, Elvis Costello will surely offer a generous tasting of his vintage songs Sunday night at the Chateau Ste. Michelle winery in Woodinville.

In addition to songs from “Secret, Profane and Sugarcane,” his current album, Costello will likely consider such gems as “Alison,” “Watching the Detectives,” “Accidents Will Happen” and “Oliver’s Army” from his distant past.

His current album begins, appropriately, with “Down Among the Wine & Spirits,” which you can hear on his Web site. The album has a strong Americana vibe, despite his English heritage.

A brilliant and prolific singer-songwriter, Costello has released dozens of albums and compilations through the years. He’s a remarkable talent who married well. His wife, jazz singer-pianist Diana Krall, performs at Chateau Aug. 29-30.

Here’s an interview I did with Costello before he performed a free show at Easy Street Records in 2002.
