The 2010 Doe Bay Fest has just doubled its roster of artists, adding Grand Archives, Fences, The Dimes, Zoe Muth & the Lost High Rollers, The Maldives and Kimo Muraki.

Previously announced for the Aug. 13-14 festival on Orcas Island were Fruit Bats, Grand Hallway, THEESatisfaction, Portland Cello Project, Hey Marseilles, Drew Grow & the Pastors’ Wives and Shenandoah Davis.

The communal music festival on 40 acres of forested land on Orcas is becoming a cool alternative to the mega-music-festivals held around the country.

“Doe Bay Fest rises above the normal festival claustrophobia with its communcal sense that this is how music is meant to be presented,” say organizers.

It may be challenging to get to Orcas — by ferry, private boat or plane — but the experience should be worth the extra effort. A side stage will offer solo and “side project” sets by many of the performers.
