Heaven knows I love the concept of Rockabye Baby! — the rock-the-cradle lullaby versions of Mama and Dada’s favorite tunes, often with age-inappropriate titles.
The series’ tribute to The Smiths seems especially illustrative: “Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now,” “Girlfriend in a Coma” and “Shoplifters of the World Unite,” anyone? (“Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want” is spot-on, though.)
Now (how soon is it? Saturday), as part of Record Store Day, “Rockabye Baby! Lullaby Renditions of The Smiths” will be released as a vinyl LP (CDs and downloads will follow on Tuesday). Try to explain that one to your young ‘un.
