Actor-musician Will Oldham brings his road show to Wolf Haven

Will Oldham

Will Oldham self-portrait

Will Oldham, best known as iconoclast indie musician Bonnie “Prince” Billy (bonus points for the superfluous quote marks), established his Pacific Northwest bonafides by starring in director Kelly Reichardt’s acclaimed road movie “Old Joy.” (Likewise, actor Michelle Williams claimed her indie cred in Reichardt’s followup, “Wendy and Lucy.”)

Fittingly, the beard-forward Oldham returns here on another canine-related trek. (And let’s face it, although he did a fine job in “Old Joy,” the self-same Lucy was the star of the film.)

As Bonnie “Prince” Billy, he’ll be hosting hourly tours June 9 at the Wolf Haven International sanctuary in Tenino (it’s south of Olympia, WA), where he’s “adopted” a “very sultry little wolf” (his record label, Chicago’s Drag City, never disappoints) named Kiawatha. Also, he’ll be offering a free show “live with the wolves” there at noon.

The Prince, whose latest Drag City release is “Wolfroy Goes to Town” (I detect a theme), also will be performing in-store at record shops in Olympia, Tacoma, Anacortes and Seattle (June 13 at 7 p.m. at Ballard’s Sonic Boom).
