Seattle band Branden Daniel & the Chics’ first music video, “Mor Yay,” was filmed on Beacon Hill, Alki Beach and other Seattle locations. It also stars Daniel’s 5-year-old son, Hayes, who is hilarious as the video’s pint-sized drummer.

The R&B-infused rock of “Mor Yay” is representative of the witty, energetic songs on the band’s 10-song debut album, “Keep ‘Em Flying,” due May 8. Pre-order specials are available on the group’s Bandcamp page.

Here’s how Daniel explains the song’s title: “When Hayes was 2 years old, some of his first words were ‘mor yay.’ This is what he called the music I played on my guitar because people would clap and say ‘yay’ after a performance.”

In addition to Daniel, the band includes Aaron Schroeder on baritone guitar and Matt Winter on drums. The group’s West Coast tour included an April 5 show at the Crocodile in Seattle. Check the band’s website for news and updates.
