"Twilight" convention

Don’t be surprised to see vampires with pointed teeth roaming the streets of downtown Seattle this weekend.

Vampires and all their fans will descend on the city — specifically, the Westin Hotel — for a convention Friday through Sunday (Jan. 15-17).

Twilight Fan Conventions will offer attendees the chance to immerse themselves in all aspects of “The Twilight Saga” phenomenon. The weekend gathering will include on-stage appearances by “Twilight” celebrities, screenings of exclusive footage, panel discussions, themed parties, musical performances, costume and trivia competitions, auctions, autographing, merchandising and photo ops.

The top fan Web sites, among them Twilight Lexicon and Twilight Moms, will offer presentations in Seattle and other stops on the convention tour.

The film series stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson and relates the story of 17-year-old Bella Swan, who moves to Forks on the Washington coast to live with her dad. She is drawn to Edward Cullen, a mysterious classmate who pushes her away — yet neither can deny a mutual attraction, even when Cullen tells Swan that he and his family members are vampires.

The modern-day vampire love story made its debut in cinemas on Nov. 21, 2008. The second film, “The Twilight Saga: New Moon,” starring Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, was released Nov. 20, 2009. A third film, “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” will debut June 30.
